Direct Path and Learning Meditation

What is Meditation ?

Meditation is a profound practice of self-discovery. It is not merely a relaxation technique but a way to familiarize ourselves with our innate goodness, our basic goodness, and our true nature. Within each of us, there is an intrinsic goodness that is often obscured by mental clutter, just like a diamond covered in mud or the vast sky hidden by clouds.

The intrinsic value of the diamond does not diminish when covered in dirt; it is merely hidden. Similarly, the sky remains clear and open despite temporary clouds passing by. In the same way, our innate clarity and goodness are always present, untouched by external circumstances. Meditation is a journey to recognize this pure awareness, to reconnect with the essence of who we truly are.

Two Levels of Direct Path

This page is dedicated to Direct Path and Learning Meditation, an approach where we do not rely on any external methods or tools. Instead, we directly guide individuals to recognize their true nature and basic goodness—the innate qualities of awareness, loving-kindness, and wisdom.

  1. Learning Meditation (For Beginners)
For beginners, this is a gentle introduction to recognizing basic goodness. Through gradual awareness, we uncover the natural clarity and warmth within us. While there are beneficial side effects like stress relief, our primary focus is on recognizing the essence of awareness itself.
  2. Non-Duality Training (Advanced Level)
For those seeking deeper exploration, the advanced level is found in Facilitator and Advanced Training, under Non-Duality Training. This is for individuals who already have meditation experience and wish to directly recognize the true nature of awareness beyond conceptual understanding. This training is for those who are ready to explore the essence of meditation itself.

The By-Products of Meditation

While meditation itself is about cultivating pure awareness, it also brings numerous beneficial by-products. These include:

  • Balance
A state of alert relaxation, where we are both conscious and at ease.
  • Interconnectedness
Seeing how all phenomena are interrelated, understanding the paradox of flow and non-solidity.
  • Compassion and Loving-Kindness
Cultivating a heart full of empathy and connection with others.
  • Emotional Regulation
Enhanced ability to process emotions, reducing stress and anxiety.
  • Neuroscientific Benefits
Research shows that meditation can lengthen telomeres, improve brain function, enhance neuroplasticity, and regulate the nervous system, leading to greater resilience and well-being.

Misconceptions About Meditation

Many misunderstand meditation as an effort to achieve a particular state. However, meditation is not about chasing a state of bliss or enlightenment, as that very pursuit creates tension. Instead, it is about inviting awareness with a gentle intention and then allowing it to unfold naturally. Meditation is an invitation and surrender process: gentle intention and allowing.

Common Misconceptions:

  1. Meditation is about emptying the mind – Not true.
Meditation is about creating a safe space for all experiences to arise and dissolve naturally.
  2. Meditation means rejecting thoughts and emotions – Incorrect.
Meditation is about allowing all phenomena to be present without attachment or aversion.
  3. Meditation leads to apathy or dullness – False.
True meditation is open, aware, relaxed, yet responsive. It is neither dissociation nor passivity.

Meditation as a Natural State

Meditation is not something foreign or external—it is our most natural state. Yet, in modern life, we are constantly caught in habitual thinking, data processing, and pattern recognition, rarely pausing to rest in pure presence. Meditation allows us to recognize the awareness that exists beyond these mental constructs.

Formal and Informal Meditation

Formal Meditation – Setting aside dedicated time to sit in stillness and become fully present with awareness.- Informal Meditation – Bringing mindfulness into daily activities such as walking, eating, washing dishes, or even dancing. Every action can be a meditation when infused with awareness.

The Essence of Meditation

Ultimately, meditation is about recognizing awareness, presence, and openness. It is about living beyond habitual thinking, becoming a supportive space for all experiences, and allowing life to unfold naturally. This practice fosters clarity, resilience, and deep understanding of oneself and the world.

Meditation Teacher in Bali

At innerpeace.id, we believe in three core values when teaching meditation:

  1. Heart-Centered LearningMeditation is best learned not just theoretically but through direct experience. We emphasize experimentation and personal discovery, allowing each individual to understand meditation through their own felt experience.
  2. Universal and Customized ApproachMeditation is universal and can be tailored to each person’s background and learning style. Whether someone resonates with compassion, analytical inquiry, energy flow, or self-inquiry, meditation can be introduced through various doorways that suit the individual.
  3. Genuine and Authentic TeachingMeditation is not a quick-fix tool but a lifelong journey. We approach it with sincerity, depth, and authenticity, guiding individuals towards a genuine experience of awareness and presence.

Becoming a Meditation Facilitator in Bali

For those who wish to go beyond personal practice and facilitate meditation for others, we offer training to help individuals become meditation facilitators. This program covers:

  1. Understanding the essence of meditation beyond techniques.
  2. Developing the ability to guide others into awareness and loving-kindness.
  3. Cultivating presence and sensitivity to support others in their journey.
  4. Learning how to hold a safe and open space for meditation practitioners.
  5. Deepening one’s own familiarity with awareness so that facilitation becomes natural and authentic.

Facilitating meditation is not about imposing a method but about helping others discover their own inner clarity and awareness. Just as one becomes familiar with a friend and can introduce them to others, meditation facilitators become deeply acquainted with awareness and help others recognize it within themselves.

About Andreas - Meditation Teacher in Bali

Andreas has been practicing meditation since childhood, exploring various traditions, including Reiki, Prana, and Indonesian spiritual practices. As his understanding deepened, he explored Western and Eastern traditions, leading to profound realizations about the nature of awareness beyond thoughts and perceptions.

In 2010–2011, Andreas experienced direct insights into the illusory nature of self-identification with the body, mind, and emotions. This led him to study Buddhism, Hinduism, Sufism, Christian Mysticism, and other traditions, all pointing towards the same underlying truth of awareness.

Since 2015, Andreas has been teaching meditation, developing an approach that is Heart-Centered, Universal yet Customized, and Genuine and Authentic. His teachings focus on helping individuals recognize their true nature, cultivate presence, and live with greater awareness and compassion.
